Eudialyte (also called almandine spar, eudalite, and Saami blood) is a fairly rare mineral that is soluble when combined with acid—hence the Greek name origin eu dialytos meaning “easily dissolved.” It does not form crystals, but can be found in colors ranging from pink to brown to purple and green.
It was first discovered in Greenland in 1819 in the igneous rock, nepheline syenite. It can be found in Russia, Canada, Greenland and Madagascar.
This mineral can have some spots on it that fluoresce a brilliant orange.
